Jan '16 - Young Tree Purning Workshop A Neighborhood Success

Supporting Positive & Sustainable Growth for Our Trees

ST. JOHNS, OR  -  20+ neighborhood volunteers joined certified arborists from the Urban Forestry office to prune neighborhood trees at an event organized by the St. Johns Tree Team Saturday.

"I learned a lot, and had a lot of fun," said one event volunteer. "With the hands on experience supervised by a certified arborists, I feel more confident when pruning my own trees."

After an hour training workshop at the St. Johns Community Center, volunteer teams went out with certified arborists to prune neighborhood young street trees throughout central St. Johns.

This is the 1st of 4 quarterly events the St. Johns Tree Team plans to host in 2016 in support of its mission to improve and protect the St. Johns urban forest for the benefit for all.

"We are beyond pleased with the turn out today," said Gloria, a Tree Team volunteer. "We love our neighborhood trees!"

Volunteers and arborists gather for a group photo before heading out to prune.
